By the end of that week and half, you have visited five countries. You have learned their culture and traditions, while tasting typical food prepared by friendly locals. But in fact, you only traveled to one country, for an Erasmus+ exchange. It may seem extraordinary how it works, but the fact is that those days can become a great travel experience around the globe. I wish I had some scientific studies to corroborate my statements, but in this case it is all based in life experience.

During a youth exchange you meet youngsters from several countries, who speak their own language, think and act their own way. You can have a sneak peak of how life is where they live, so far away from you. During that period (around ten days), you gather with them to discuss and share about a topic, either social, environmental or religious.

You will find people who disagree on you (obviously!), but the surprise is when you find people with the same concerns, passions and attitude towards the society in general.

By the end, you discover you are not so different from each other. You learn that your background may impact on how you think, but your core is the responsible on how you can rule the world together.

And just like that... you travel around the globe with only a two-way ticket.

Até o final dessa semana e meia, visitaste cinco países. Aprendeste a cultura e tradições, enquanto saboreavas a comida típica preparada pelos simpáticos habitantes locais. Mas na verdade, só viajaste para um país para um intercâmbio Erasmus+. Pode parecer extraordinário como isso acontece, mas o facto é que esses dias podem se tornar uma excelente viagem à volta do mundo. Eu gostava de ter alguns estudos científicos que corroborassem as minhas afirmações, mas neste caso é tudo baseado em experiência de vida. Durante um intercâmbio de jovens, conheces jovens de vários países, que falam a sua própria língua, pensam e agem à sua maneira. Consegues ter uma ideia de como é a vida onde eles vivem, tão longe de ti. Durante esse período (cerca de dez dias), juntam-se para discutir e partilhar ideias sobre um tópico, seja ele social, ambiental ou religioso. Vais encontrar pessoas que discordam de ti (obviamente!), mas a surpresa é quando encontras pessoas com as mesmas preocupações, paixões e atitudes em relação à sociedade em geral. No final, descobres que não são assim tão diferentes uns dos outros. Aprendes que o ambiente à tua volta tem um impacto sobre a forma como pensas, mas é a tua essência a responsável pela forma como podemos governar o mundo juntos. E simples assim... viajas pelo mundo apenas com um bilhete de ida e volta.
